Kessel Runners 2019
Video Game Party Ideas
Are you ready to run!? Catch all the details on what to expect below!

This Saturday’s run takes off at 10:30 AM.
Check-in at 10 AM, post-run party at 11 AM.

Star Wars is the theme of the week, so dress in your most comfortable Star Wars gear for a fun practice run that'll have you making a bold "Solo" escape past the Imperial Blockade on Corellia Prime, dodging Crimson Dawn, and maybe even a Sith Lord! Most importantly, no one gets left behind.

Where: Meet in front of Snack Attack and run east on Spring Creek Trail before turning around just past the Bridge on Stuart Street.

In case you can't find parking at Snack Attack, here are two more lots you might want to use (don't park in the State garage unless you like to be towed):

Course: We’ll be walk-running an out and back course heading east along the Spring Creek Trail, walking in 90-second increments and running in 60-second increments.

Check In: Stop at the registration table so we can check you in and tally up your points!

Weather: We’ll have a bit of a cool start in the high 30's, but since this is Colorado, check the forecast 15 minutes before you head out. There's a good chance it'll be pretty windy!

What to Wear: Breathable, sweat-wicking fabrics such as polyester are preferable. Loose clothing that you can easily breathe in is best. Layers are key! You will be able to leave your jackets and water bottles at the check-in table so feel free to come bundled up.

Shoes: Wear comfortable running shoes (no, Chucks and Vans are not appropriate footwear) that are already broken in. If you have new shoes, break them in today with a walk! We don't want any new shoes slowing you down with blistered heels!

Course Rules: The trails are public and popular. There will be bikes, skateboards, and dogs coming and going around you. Be courteous and safe by taking up no more than half of the trail. Passing bikes may ring a bell or yell "On your left!" when passing. Take a moment to make sure you’re in your lane. Stay aware of your surroundings, and leave your headphones at home.

Course Elements: If you are wearing a flag belt, you will be chased by villains. When you come across a villain, veer to the right when avoiding them – do not jump into the oncoming lane unless you're curious what it feels like to get hit by one of the Imperial Army's 74-Z speeder bikes. Unless you are one with the force, do not attempt to battle or touch the Imperialist baddies. Much like Rey and Finn found on Jakku, running is key to staying alive!

Keep your eyes peeled for the plans to the Death Star, and only grab one piece of loot per person.

Parents, hold your children’s hands when crossing over Remmington.

Your Mission: Like any Padawan, you must learn the ways of running. The first rule of running is to know what you're capable of. To do that, follow instructions, stick with your group, and listen to your body. If you're gasping for air, you're running too fast. Your sweet spot is being able to run and have enough air to talk a little. By the end of the run, you should know if you need to slow your pace down and if you and your teammates have a similar fitness.
