Kessel Runners 2019
Jurassic Park Run - March 30 - 10:20AM
Are you ready to run!? Catch all the details on what to expect below!

This Saturday’s run takes off at 10:30 AM.
Check-in at 10:20 AM!

Do you ever feel slowed down, like your feet are well preserved in amber? If so, this Hero Run might just be the one for you!

We're taking it back in time to "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth" for a visit to Jurassic Park. We have it on good account that John Hammond says the dinos are all cute and cuddly - BUT they may have a propensity to chase runners if provoked.

We’ll be meeting at Spring Canyon Park near the Inspiration Playground, our Jurassic Park Visitors Center for the day.

Stick around after the run for the ancient story of the Eagle and the Giant, which took place right at Spring Canyon Park! Rumor has it, you can actually see the giant's resting place to this day - and if you're in the right spot you might even hear a faint heartbeat or even a monstrous sneeze!

Where: We'll meet near Inspiration Playground at Spring Canyon Park: 2626 W Horsetooth Rd, Fort Collins, Colorado 80526
Course: We’ll be walk-running a 2-mile course heading West around Rolland Moore park, running in 4-minute increments and walking in 3-minute increments. Stretching starts at 10:30 AM and the Run begins at 10:40 AM (plan on about 30 minutes for the pacing).

Check-In: Stop at the registration table so we can check you in and tally up your points!

Weather: We’ll have a partly cloudy morning in the mid 30's, but since this is Colorado, check the forecast 15 minutes before you head out. Ben will be checking the trails, but our indication so far is that the snow is not sticking.

What to Wear: Breathable, sweat-wicking fabrics such as polyester are preferable. Loose clothing that you can easily breathe in is best. Layers are key! You will be able to leave your jackets and water bottles at the check-in table so feel free to arrive bundled up.
Shoes: Wear comfortable running shoes (no, Chucks and Vans are not appropriate footwear) that are already broken in. If you have new shoes, break them in today with a walk! We don't want any new shoes slowing you down with blistered heels!

Course Rules: The trails are public and popular. There will be bikes, skateboards, and dogs coming and going around you. Be courteous and safe by taking up no more than half of the trail. Passing bikes may ring a bell or yell "On your left!" when passing. Take a moment to make sure you’re in your lane. Stay aware of your surroundings, and leave your headphones at home.

Course Elements: Your Jurassic Park tour guide will lead you through the Park's exhibits. We've had some reports of minor power fluctuations and our radios are picking up screams from the nearby roller coaster park. To ensure your safety, we recommend sparing no expense on your footgear.

There is a short "jungle" trail portion of this run, but it can easily be bypassed by sticking to the paved trail if desired.

Our hero/villain adversaries have upgraded! Being tagged by them will now = -1 Kessel Point (at your discretion/honor system).

Flag Belt Upgrade Achieved! We'll have the flag belts available for this prehistoric run! Wearing flag belt = +1 Kessel Point

Your Mission: Survive, although you'll want to snag the Dinosaur DNA encased in amber buttons as you go.

Join us for an exciting APEX Parkour Crosstraining Sunday at 4:40PM!

Learn the basics of parkour with APEX School of Movement, Fort Collins! We will be climbing, swinging, and jumping from place to place around the APEX playground!
